3 Honest eateries for a hearty group meal

There are lots of different places to eat across the Great Ocean Road region, depending on what you’re after.

But, if you’ve had a big day sightseeing with the family and can’t be bothered cooking (if you’re staying at self contained accommodation), and even getting take away is too hard, just mosey on up to the local pub or club and you’ll be well looked after.

Here are some eateries where you can enjoy a quality meal at a great price, most offering local wines and craft beers.

1. Apollo Bay Hotel

At Apollo Bay Hotel, you can sit back and relax as you casually dine in the nautical-inspired bistro and alfresco dining areas, or enjoy a glass of wine or boutique beer in the stylish Bar – all the while, taking in the spectacular views of the Apollo Bay foreshore. Enjoy your dining experience by the sea with an extensive menu featuring traditional pub fare, delicious specials and a fine selection of seasonal dishes.

2. Great Ocean Road Brewhouse in Apollo Bay

Overlooking the ocean, the Great Ocean Road Brewhouse is a craft beer haven with over 100 craft beers on offer, including Prickly Moses Handcrafted Beers. There’s a food and beverage tasking room behind the pub, called Tastes of the Region, where you’ll find local beer and wine and enjoy a produce platter showcasing locally produced cheeses, dips, bread, olive oil and more. The award-winning Bistro is open every day for lunch and dinner. They even have free wi-fi! It’s best to book in advance.

4. Images Restaurant Cafe + Cocktail Bar in Warrnambool

Located in the ‘foodie’ end of Liebig Street, this group friendly restaurant has a great variety of meals and really decadent desserts. They have an excellent children’s menu, plus lots of vegetarian and gluten-free choices.
