ITINERARY

ACCOMMODATION: AWARD WINNING RACV TORQUAY RESORT

Spacious and beautifully designed with every convenience at your fingertips the award winning RACV Torquay Resort has everything you need to relax and unwind. Ideally situated at No 1: Great Ocean Road you’ll wake up to a championship golf course on your doorstep, be able to check the surf from your private balcony and have the warm waters of the bathhouse and therapeutic steam room waiting for you when you return.  No wonder it’s in the Trip Advisor’s Top 10 Best Hotels in Australia list.

SUNRISE: REVITALISING BEACH YOGA

Start the morning with a salute to the sun at a sunrise yoga session with Revitalise Escapes. It’s just one of the activities founder Jo offers on the Surf Coast Escape – a two-day transformational wellness weekend by the ocean.

This is an all-inclusive relaxing getaway of yoga, meditation, spa treatments, mindfulness sessions, in-nature experiences and nourishing food. It’s the perfect balance of breathtaking destinations and rejuvenating activities that will return you home feeling relaxed, inspired and refreshed.

9AM: WALK WORLD-FAMOUS BEACHES

When you’re staying in Torquay, world-famous beaches are right around the corner. Breath in the fresh sea air as you wander the shores of Bells and Torquay Beach and watch in awe as some of the best surfers on the coast weave their magic on the waves. This is the home of Australian surfing after all!

BRUNCH: SMOOTHIES AT SURFCOAST WHOLEFOODS

Inspired to hit the waves? Fuel your body first with a smoothie or acai bowl at Surfcoast Wholefoods. You’ll be spoilt for healthy choices at the region’s largest organic and wholefoods store. All of the house-made delicacies are created from scratch, fresh from only the certified organic fresh produce sold in store.

1PM: REAL SURFERS TEACHING REAL SURFING

Exhilarate the senses by immersing yourself in the waves with a Torquay Surfing Academy surf lesson. Their motto  is ‘Real surfers teaching real surfing’ so whether you’re a beginner (like me) or an experienced surfer looking for some pro tips they have you covered.

The Surf Academy is located just a two-minute walk from the beach – but the real schooling happens in the surf. In under two minutes you’ll have your wetsuit on, foam board in hand and be warming up with an on-sand demo at Cosy Corner before hitting the waves – thankfully much smaller than those you saw at Bells earlier! For two hours the surf coaches are in the water with you giving you a little extra push when needed. Even I was on my feet in no time!

4PM: REWARD YOURSELF AT ONE SPA, RACV TORQUAY RESORT

Warm up with a well-earned bathing session at One Spa, RACV Torquay Resort. The award-winning heated spa bathhouse and luxurious thermal stone steam room will revive and restore any muscles sore from surfing. Continue the pampering with a personalised massage treatment then watch the sun set on the picturesque 18-hole golf course as you sip champagne in your private geisha spa. Bliss.

Sunday

9AM: STAY AND PLAY – RACV TORQUAY GOLF CLUB

Wake to a round of golf on the resort’s championship course. Even the best players might be distracted by the spectacular backdrop of Torquay and Jan Jun beaches as they play the immaculate, wide-open fairways, undulating greens, fescue roughs and wetlands of this Par 71, 18-hole, links style course.

LUNCH: THE FARMHOUSE KITCHEN AND GARDENS OF LA CANTINA

You’ve nourished the soul, next the body at this rustic, farmhouse style kitchen. Here, the self-grown produce is the star. Settle in for a long lunch celebrating simple Italian flavours – hand-made pastas, sustainably sourced meat and locally sourced produce from the Surf Coast and Otways, all served up with market garden views.

3PM: TORQUAY’S ORIGINAL DESTINATION DAY SPA – SALTAIR

You can’t leave Torquay without discovering the region’s original destination Day Spa. Nestled in rolling hills green with distant ocean views, Saltair Day Spa offers world-class skincare, heavenly massages and a day spa experience so iconic it’s earned a place in the Trip Advisor ‘Hall of Fame’. With views like this it’s the perfect finale for the most relaxing of weekends.
